ED club workshop
Event Report
11/10/2021 and 12/10/2021 at 9:30 AM to 5 PM
Entrepreneurship is vital for job creation in an economy. An entrepreneurial culture also promotes innovation, productivity improvement and human capital development. Globally, new businesses have created disproportionately more jobs than established ones. India’s large employable population base will require rapid employment generation. In this context, fostering entrepreneurial ventures will be critical to leveraging India’s demographic dividend. Large companies are unlikely to generate enough jobs. Employment generation in large private companies will also be limited by rising automation and productivity gains. Agriculture (currently providing 50 per cent of employment in India), too, will see low levels of job creation as productivity improves. The onus of employment generation, therefore, lies on entrepreneurial ventures.
Karnataka has introduced multiple sector specific policies, self-employment schemes, and infrastructural development program to encourage entrepreneurship in the state. Government of Karnataka has organised a workshop ” Be an Entrepreneur- Become an Employer ” to create awareness among young professionals and graduate students on advantages of becoming a self-reliant entrepreneur and contribute to the economy instead of seeking employment.
The Karnataka government’s effort to encourage the spirit of entrepreneurship among the youths received a solid response as more than ten thousand people including college students, graduates and budding entrepreneurs attended the daylong entrepreneurship workshop titled ‘Udyami Aagu, Udyoga Needu’ on Monday at Bengaluru Palace. The programme is conceived at attracting professional youth and students to entrepreneurship and employment generation. The daylong programme aimed to provide a platform to technical students, youngsters to directly interact with successful entrepreneurs, industry experts to gain knowledge, and learn the tricks of the trade.
Some of the prominent business leaders, young entrepreneurs who have achieved great success in their businesses like Nithin Kamath, Founder and CEO, Zerodha; Aprameya Radhakrishna, Co-founder and CEO, Koo app; Gadhadar Reddy, CEO, NoPo Nanotechnologies; Chaitanya Adapa, Head -Credit, Udaan Capital and Vivekananda Hallekere, CEO, Co-founder, Bounce.
Leaders like Geetha Manjunath, Founder and CEO, Niramai Health Analytix; Madan Padaki, Co-founder, Global Alliance for Mass Entrepreneurship; Subramanya SV, Co-founder and CEO, Fisdom; Rajkiran Rai G, MD and CEO, Union Bank of India among others took part in the event and shared their experiences with youngsters and budding entrepreneurs.
The Event started with the Inauguration by the Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai for the ‘Udyami Aagu, Udyoga Needu’ programme on Monday. Followed by the Chief Minister shared his valuable knowledge and his hard work to help the budding Entrepreneurs of Karnataka. Later the Business Leader who have attended the workshop shared their valuable experiences and feedback which immensely helped the students. The next day, on October 12, Kaigarika Adalat also was held. This event helped industrialists and other stakeholders to resolve their grievances on the spot. Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines Pralhad Joshi also took part in the programme. The event ended by the vote of thanks.
The students of SSMRV college attended the 2-day workshop and gained immense knowledge about Entrepreneurship. At SSMRV we believe that students if nurtured and navigated on the right tracks can create wonders. For they are the bundle of positivity and innovation combined as a package.
Mrs Pallavi, convenor of Aahana, has immensely supported us to register and attend the event.
Overall, the event was knowledgeable and helped the students.
